Oscar Valdez (25-0, 20KOs) will be making the sixth title defense of his WBO featherweight title June 8th against Jason “El Alcrancito” Sanchez (14-0 7KOs) at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. This fight will be the main event on the card and will be presented live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes starting at 10PM/ET

Oscar Valdez is a true Mexican warrior. In his fight against Scott Quigg, which Quigg came in overweight ended with him winning via unanimous decision in a war that had him fight more than half the fight with a broken jaw. Before that he had two blood drenched battles, one with Miguel Marriaga and one with Genesis Servania. This will be Valdez’s second fight with world class Mexican trainer Eddy Reynoso who is also the long time trainer of middleweight king and Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. Valdez is a hungry fighter who puts his all in the ring.

Sanchez is a hot, fast rising prospect who recently signed a long term promotional contract with Top Rank. February 2nd he debuted for Top Rank and clearly reassured the company that they made a good investment by knocking out Daniel Olea in the 2nd round. He also handed then unbeaten Jean Carlos Rivera his for loss via unanimous decision back in October. Will Sanchez be able to hand out another loss to unbeaten Valdez on June 8th? or will Valdez, with his brutal, “leave it all in the ring” warrior spirit stop the rising prospect dead in his tracks?
