Former world champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (34-1-1, 23KOs) will face off against fellow former world champion, Caleb “Golden” Truax(30-4-2, 19KOs) in an IBF super middleweight eliminator. This fight will take place in Traux’s home state of Minnesota at the Minneapolis Armory. The card will presented live on April 13th on FS1 with broadcast starting at 10PM ET/ 7PM PT and is presented by PBC.
Truax will have the hometown advantage. The crowd will be in his favor on this night. Quillin and Traux are both former champions who look to rise back to the top and this match-up has been seen by many as a 50-50 fight. Being former champions is a big motivator in this fight. Both fighters know what it’s like to be called champion and will work hard at ascending to that once held status.
Quillin is a former middleweight champion who has moved up to super middleweight and in his last bout which was his second at this weight proved he has what it takes with a unanimous decision victory against J’Leon Love in August of 2018. Quillin’s only loss came at the hands of the “miracle man” Daniel Jacobs in 2015. Quillin has been gaining momentum after that loss and looks to keep that rhythm going.
Truax shocked many with his upset win against James DeGale in Degale’s home country to win the 168 lb title. Truax ended up losing to DeGale in their rematch in 2018 but fought hard and valiantly. Truax’s last fight was won via 3 round stoppage against Fabiano Soares back in August.
Both these fighters will put it all on the line to get back their once acquired status of “champion” and this will make for a great fight! Tune in on FS1 or head down to The Armory in Minneapolis and do not miss out on this match-up!
