Hammer vs Shields: A Win for Women’s Boxing

American Two-time Olympic Gold medalist Claressa Shields (8-0, 2KOs) will face off against Christina Hammer (24-0. 11KOs) on April 13th. This middleweight showdown will crown the victor “undisputed champ”. The fight will air live on showtime at 9PM/ ET. Hammer will be traveling from Germany, which is were most of her fights have been, to the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The general consensus is that this fight will be one of important and significant fights in Women’s boxing history. The fight was previously scheduled for the end of 2018 but was postponed due to a medical issue pertaining to Hammer.

Both women feel they are the best in the division and are both at the top of their game. Both women also understand it is a big challenge for both. There have been a war of words between these two since back in 2017 and this fight has been brewing for that long.

experience goes to Hammer with more professional fights than Shields but Shields was active last year while Hammer was out of commission due to her medical issues which are since then resolved. Both these women have a lot to prove and with a four-belt unification on the line motivations will be high. Tune in on April 13th and see who will be crowned “Middleweight Queen” of boxing!
