Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-1-1, 34KOs) has reached a six-fight deal with subscription based streaming service DAZN. When speaking on DAZN, GGG stated that DAZN ” will be the best home for all boxers in the future.” GGG, soon to be 37 years old still has a lot left. The man known has Khazak Thunder, the middleweight boogeyman struck fear in the hearts of the division.
Many people feel GGG had won both fights against Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. The first fight ended in a controversial draw and the second fight ended with Canelo’s hand raised in victory. GGG was once the most avoided man in the division. The 2 Canelo fights and a decision win over Daniel Jacobs made the seemingly invincible, knockout artist’s reputation become somewhat tainted. The Khazak KO machine is now seen as “human”. Jacobs wants a rematch and Andrade wants a shot at Golovkin as well. GGG’s popularity will make him a great name to add to anyone’s resume, IF they can beat him.
This deal signing with DAZN will bring some challengers at GGG’s doorstep and this writer is sure he will answer the call. GGG has also expressed that he is opened to an eventual move to 168 lbs where Callum smith and Dmitry Bivol, who are also DAZN fighters can meet GGG.
With the signing of GGG, DAZN has so many fight options with other DAZN fighters such as: Canelo, Jacobs, Munguia, and Andrade just to name a few. This fight would be easier to set up being all these fighters will be under the same umbrella.
Whatever future fights are in store for GGG and DAZN one thing is for certain, DAZN is definitely doing something right and has all the makings of producing many great fights over the coming years! Subscribe to DAZN and be a part of a great movement in boxing!
