With Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder preoccupied with their possible rematch, British heavyweight king Anthony Joshua(22-0,21KOs) has set his sights on Brooklyn Native Jarell “Big Baby” Miller(23-0-1, 20KOs). This will be Joshua’s first fight in the United States, with the champion taking on the challenger in his own hometown. The fight will take place at Madison Square Garden on June 1st.
Former super-middleweight champ Carl Froch weighed in on his opinion about Joshua fighting Miller in New York. Froch stated the goal here would be if Joshua “can deliver another devastating knockout win, Americans will be thinking ‘ wow this is who they’ve been talking about, big AJ from England’. He will have arrived in America, People will have seen him in action , and that applies a bit of pressure on Deontay Wilder to consider negotiations more seriously”. Froch’s point is valid, a knockout win against Miller will increase Joshua’s stock in the US and will put more pressure on Wilder to make this super fight happen. Joshua is the current IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO Heavyweight champion, he is the man who beat the man ( Wladimir Klitschko).
Joshua has to still get past Miller to put himself in this bargaining position. Miller is a big heavyweight who can bang with a good work rate. He is strong. Miller also has the tough guy, take nothing from nobody Brooklyn attitude. Come fight night Miller will be entering the ring fearless and ready for war. He looks to send Joshua back to the UK beltless.
Bad blood between these two giants has been brewing resulting in Miller getting in Joshua face and shoving him at their press conference in NY. They have also been at a war of words. Between the belts being on the line, gaining a bigger fan base, and not wanting to lose that “0” these fighters will be bringing their “A” game to ensure victory. Tune in on the DAZN on June 1st or head over to the Madison Square Garden to bear witness when these titans collide!
