Lara’s Return: Challenging Castano March 2nd

Former WBA junior middleweight titlist Erislandy Lara (25-3-2, 14KOs) will return to the ring when he challenges WBA (Regular) super welterweight champion Brian Castano ( 15-0, 11KOs). These two fighters will face-off on March 2nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn NY. Showtime will broadcast the card live at 9p.m. ET/6p.m PT.

Lara is a tough and talented fighter who battled it out with Jarett Hurd in 2018 which was deemed 2018 ESPN fight of the year. Lara would face defeat via split decision in a close fight. Lara’s other two loses come from Paul Williams back in 2011 and a close and controversial split decision loss against present day middleweight king Saul “Canelo” Alvarez back in 2014. Lara held the WBA tittle from 2014-2018 as well as the IBO title from 2015-2018. He looks to get his hands on a title again against Castano and come fight night he will pull out all the stops to make that happen.

Brian Castano hasn’t fought in almost a year but don’t count him out just yet. He is still an undefeated champion. 11 of his 15 wins come by way of KO and holding on to the undefeated record and belt are big motivators to win. A win over the caliber of fighter Lara is will definitely boost Castano’s stock. Castano will put it all on the line come fight night.

Also fighting on the card we have Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (30-1, 26KOs) who will face Christian Hammer ( 24-5. 14KOs). These two heavyweights have fierce power. Luis Ortiz suffered his only loss at the hands of Deontay Wilder march of 2018. Many people believe that Ortiz was getting to Wilder in the earlier rounds and even had him hurt at one point before being stopped by Wilder in the 10th round.

Do not miss out on this great night of fights in Brooklyn! Tune into Showtime or buy your tickets and head over to the Barclays Center March 2nd!
