Jacobs-Derevyanchenko: Championship tripleheader at MSG

Brooklyn native, Daniel Jacobs (34-2 29KOs) will face off against Ukrainian rising star Sergiy Derevyanchenko (12-0 10KOs) at the Hulu Theater, MSG October 27th. These two will be fighting for the vacant IBF World Middleweight Title.

Danny Jacobs, although he lost at the hands of GGG, halted Golovkin’s KO streak at 23 losing by a close unanimous decision. Danny Jacobs showed the world that the middleweight boogeyman known as GGG is just a man. With a notable win over fellow Brooklynite and former titleholder Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (34-1-1 23KOs) for the WBA title in 2015 via 1st round knockout it is well known that Jacobs is a force to be reckoned with. Jacobs, a man they call “Miracle Man” who is so tough he not only has beaten high level fighters, but he also beat cancer.

Sergiy Derevyanchenko looks to catapult himself and make himself known as a strong force in the middleweight division. I win against a tough competitor like Jacobs would allow him the IBF title which can be a bargaining tool for bigger money fights. With 10 of his 12 wins coming by way of KO he packs a punch, but Jacobs has proven that he has a chin.

Both fighters have a great skillset and both can end a fight with just one punch. They also both work with trainer Andre Rozier and have sparred over 300 rounds together. They are both very familiar with each other inside the ring.  They both need to pull out some new tricks if either one wants that win. Sparks will fly on this October night in New York.

Also fighting as part of this Tripleheader of title fights airing on HBO would be Albert Machado (20-0 16KOs) defending his WBA super featherweight title against Yuandale Evans (20-1 14KOs). Brooklyn superstar Heather “The Heat” Hardy will face off against Shelly Vincent in a much-anticipated rematch for a vacant WBO featherweight title.

If you can’t make it down to MSG then tune in to what may be HBOs last fight coverage as they are leaving the boxing business behind, this card is the only card HBO as scheduled and it will air at 10PM/ET.
