Unified super welterweight champion Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-1-1, 16KOs) will defend his WBA and IBF titles in his hometown of Philadelphia when he goes up against fierce puncher Jeison Rosario (19-1-1, 13KOs) on Saturday, January 18th live on FOX from Temple University’s Liacouras Center. The card begins at 8 p.m ET.
Williams snatched the titles from Jarrett Hurd back in 2019 which was Hurd’s Homecoming defense. The fight was a fight of the year candidate. Now Williams is in the same position as Hurd was in. Williams will be defending his titles in his homecoming, marking the first time he will be fighting in Philadelphia since 2011. Williams has notable wins over Ishe Smith and Nathaniel Gallimore. Williams will be looking to impress his hometown crowd come fight night.
Rosario, born in the Dominican Republic and currently fighting out of Miami will be challenging for a title for the first time. Rosario has amassed an 8 fight win streak which includes stoppage wins over Jamontay Clark, Justin DeLoach and Mark Anthony Hernandez. Rosario also won a decision over tough contender Jorge Cota. Rosario is hungry and looks to pull an upset come fight night.
The co-main event will feature Brooklyn’s very own top rising prospect Chris Colbert (13-0,5KOs) as he takes on former world champion Jezreel Corrales for the interim WBA super featherwieght title. This can either be a comeback win for Corrales or Corrales can be a stepping block for Colbert to begin his transition from prospect to elite. Tune in on January 18th for this great night of fights!
